Response to Coronavirus

At Children’s Theatre Company’s Plays for Young Audiences, we recognize that plans are evolving as a result of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Pandemic. We share your ongoing concern about the well-being of your cast, crew, musicians, and audience, as safety will always be our top priority. We will work with you through this period of uncertainty and we have created the following FAQ to help you at this time.

If you’re a professional customer, please reach out dsherrer@childrenstheatre.org for assistance. If you wish to request approval to livestream or record your production, please email the following information:

  • What is the estimated number of participants in the livestream or copies of the recording?
  • What qualifies a patron to participate in this livestream (current ticketholder, theatre subscriber, etc.) or receive a recording?
  • How is your organization’s infrastructure set up to handle this distribution (password-protected link, hard copy DVD, etc.)?
  • How do you plan to protect this livestream or recording from public release?
  • Would there be any additional income or revenue generated from this livestream or recording?
  • How many performances would be captured?

If you are an amateur customer with questions regarding your licensed production and the Coronavirus (COVID-19), below are some frequently asked questions and answers that may inform your decision-making process.

Can we postpone?
Yes. Postponement is highly likely, depending upon other active licenses in your area. We’ll make every effort to accommodate the date changes and we do not charge an adjustment fee. To request a change of dates, email pya@childrenstheatre.org.

Can we cancel?
Yes. Cancellation is an option, however, depending on your agreement, your deposit or royalty payments may not be refund eligible. We would like to work with you on the best outcome for your theatre or school. Email pya@childrenstheatre.org to discuss options.

Are we allowed to livestream or record our production for later viewing?
Unfortunately, streaming and video rights aren’t currently available for PYA shows. These rights are not held or controlled by PYA, and we will have to send your proposal to the author’s representatives for approval on a case-by-case basis. We understand that many of these requests will be time-sensitive, and we will do our best to assist. There is absolutely no guarantee of this permission being granted.

Can we add performances for no additional fees if we’re required to reduce the audience size to adhere to assembly restrictions?
When you have a definite plan, please email pya@chlidrenstheatre.org making sure to include your invoice number. We may need to adjust your license fee to reflect the new capacity and number of performances.
