The fantasy of a willful young girl and the beautiful scarlet slippers unfolds on the stage of little Karen’s toy theatre. Bewitched by a mysterious red-bearded soldier, the red shoes are seized with a life of their own and carry Karen’s imaginary heroine into an endless dance until she repents her selfish thoughts and deeds.
