Bio
Joe Sutton's plays include The Third Army, As it is in Heaven, Restoring the Sun, and Democracy. His work has been produced by New York Theatre Workshop, BAM, Long Wharf, Old Globe, as well as other theaters around the country and abroad. He was a winner of the FDG/CBS playwriting award, was the recipient of playwriting fellowships from the New York Foundation for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts, and was, for many years, an active member of New Dramatists, which honored him with their annual Joe A. Calloway Award. In addition, his play Voir Dire, which premiered at Seattle Rep, was nominated for the Pulitzer Prize and the Best Play Award of the American Theatre Critics Association. Mr. Sutton teaches at Dartmouth College while maintaining his home in Montclair, NJ, where he lives with his wife, Anne, and their sons, James and Nicholas.
